Angélique

Before she could live off her art, Angélique used to be an art dealer. In the 1980s, she worked in Montreuil alongside fellow French art dealers Philippe Jousse and Patrick Seguin. She soon grew tired of sales, and turned to more creative activities. She decided to dig into sewing and she apprenticed for two years under a master tailor based in Le Marais neighborhood in Paris.

Nowadays, as a photographer and sculptor, she creates elaborate artworks in PET and in organza, all based off traditional pattern-making, sewing and embroidery techniques. Still lives or portraits of real people, her sculptures are solely embodied by a thin layer of white gauze that creates an interplay of fullness and emptiness and that both veils and unveils what is present and what is absent.

Angélique’s has been commissioned by prestigious collectors and luxury brands such as Hermès, Van Cleef and Arpels, Patek Philips, Sisley.
Angélique’s artworks can be seen in the public collections of Frac Haute Normandie in France.
