After training at the Ecole des Arts et Métiers in Geneva in cabinet making and carpentry, Jérôme Blanc travelled to Australia where he discovered sculpture and contemporary woodturning. A revelation that will never leave him. Throughout his career, he has received numerous distinctions and has exhibited regularly in Switzerland, Europe and the United States. His pieces have been acquired by various public and private institutions.

The illusion of materials fascinates him. Through his work, he initiates a reflection on the metamorphosis of sculptural forms transposed into different materials and strives to understand and formally appropriate the world of glass and bronze. Through this journey beyond material boundaries, Jérôme Blanc explores the world of the trompe-l’oeil, succeeding in bringing out in the viewer what one might call a certain disorientation of the senses. Wood becomes extremely light, whilst glass and bronze are heavy and cold, with finishes that make them difficult to identify. Thus preconceptions are shattered, sight and the touch are no longer reliable, and a new aesthetic experience is opened up to the viewer.

The creator is attracted by linear forms, geometry, architecture and light, and is inspired by his surroundings, whether nature or the urban environment. Societal and environmental issues are sometimes incorporated into some of his pieces, raising questions about the correlation between man and vegetation. But his research proves that he never forgets his wood, which is always enhanced under his hand.
