maison parisienne presents a retrospective exhibition dedicated to Simone Pheulpin, recipient of the Prix Le Créateur de la Fondation Ateliers d’Art de France, from November 10 to December 16, 2016. There is something obsessive about Simone’s work: this textile artist has come up with her own artistic language, made of clear yet unpredictable coton folds. Her intriguing sculptures are made of countless bands of raw cotton, meticulously folded and piled on. Some resemble sea shells, others limestone concretions – all of them are the living narrative of Simone’s poetical vision. “Within the Folds” presented the best of 30 years of craft in the historic location of La Chapelle Expiatoire. In this stroll in and out of time, Simone’s artworks seemed to echo in the architecture, in the marble sculptures and bas-relief of this extraordinary environment.
