Lison de Caunes

Straw marker

Lison de Caunes has played a major role in reviving interest in straw marquetry, a French tradition dating back to the 17th century, based on working with rye straw, a skill she inherited from her grandfather, the famous André Groult. Ms. de Caunes launched Lison de Caunes Création in 2015, to focus on creating furniture, wall panels and objects for interior designers and decorators.

Throughout her career, Lison de Caunes has constantly innovated and enriched the straw marquetry technique. Using a palette of vibrant colors, she explores new textures, incorporating other materials such as gold leaf, mother-of-pearl and pâte de verre. Straw becomes an essential element in the design of poetic, contemporary settings.

Lison de Caunes creates furniture, accessories and wall coverings for unique projects in collaboration with renowned interior architects and designers such as Peter Marino, Vincent Darré, Pierre Marie, India Mahdavi and Cristina Celestino.
Prestigious houses such as Cartier, Guerlain and Cheval Blanc Paris are also home to numerous decors created by Ateliers Lison de Caunes.
