As a metal artist, Marta Blanc sculpts delicate works in metal wire, demonstrating the precision of her know-how.
She first studied chemistry and metrology before starting out in graphic design and then in sculpture. Her attraction to the scientific world and her desire to combine technique and art are reflected in her work and in the processes she uses.
Marta Blanc’s artworks are mainly created from fine metal wires – of copper, iron or silver – that she hooks, knits or weaves. The forms are built up gradually, before being solidified by electrolysis. The duration of the electrolysis can fluctuate, from a few hours to several months. Over time, copper particles are slowly deposited on the surface of the object, while the pieces are finished with a blowtorch, ammonia or enamels to give them their colour.
Her unique aerial sculptures are created from raw metal, playing with light to create striking shadows. Combining art and technique, Marta Blanc creates a world of contrasts and delicacy.
Maison Parisienne presented her work for the first time at its exhibition « La promenade du collectionneur à l’Hôtel Solvay » in January 2025.
