Trained in art history at the École du Louvre, Héléna Guy Lhomme initially developed a practice centered on painting and ceramics before turning to wool, which she learned to work with under the guidance of artists and artisans in Moscow. Upon returning to France, she completed her training with a DNSEP at ENSAPC.
Her practice now focuses on carded wool, which she works with through a painstaking needle-felting process. This medium, both sculptural and pictorial, allows her to create trompe-l’œil compositions, often inspired by still life. Her work explores themes of the body, the feminine, food, and the living, playing on the tensions between attraction and repulsion, illusion and materiality, classical legacies and contemporary issues.
In 2023, she participated in the exhibition *Les Aliénés* at the Mobilier National. She also received support from the DRAC Île-de-France for an in-company residency at Capgemini. In 2024, she joined the JAD and was selected for a residency with BilbaoArte, the results of which will be presented in 2025.
