Julie Percillier

Textile landscaper

Julie Percillier was born in 1997 and studied embroidery while acquiring a thorough knowledge of textile technology. The desire to develop her own personal practice prompted her to move to Belgium. There she completed a master’s degree in Tapestry and Textile Arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.

This is how the artist revealed herself, explored and unveiled the richness of the botanical world, proposing a timeless nature transcended by the textile arts. This concept, which she has named textile landscaping, proposes a dialogue between thread and vegetation to create decorative artworks for both indoors and outdoors. Each piece, in the form of compositions or botanical installations, is unique or made to measure.

Her expertise is based on embroidery, which she combines in a traditional and contemporary way with dried and stabilised plants. As a result, she creates sustainable botanical compositions that combine living nature with textile art, offering a poetic and sustainable vision of the landscape.

What sets her apart is that she highlights the preciousness of vegetation, often overshadowed by the floral world. Fascinated by the botanical world for as long as she can remember, her attachment to nature is rooted in her history. The daughter of a landscape gardener, she grew up surrounded by forests. This heritage is naturally reflected in her embroidery, an art of thread that enables her to capture the subtleties of living things and reveal all their richness.
